New Pictures

I’ve posted pictures back to August 12th.  As always, clear your cache/history on your browser or you might not be able to see them.

There are somewhat more pictures at https://www.facebook.com/2Johnson (go to “Albums”) and the resolution is better, but there’s no story.  You don’t have to be a facebook user to access as I marked them as “public”.

  1. I didn’t see any pix on your blog. But did find them on your FB page. Love the pictures of the children. They just exude happiness.

Today I came across some interesting info in an old (Jan 2013) National Geo. magazine. In 1769 Capt. James Cook got an astonishing map from the Polynesian priest Tupaia. It showed all the major island groups of the South Pacific from the Marquesas west to Fiji – an area 3,000 miles across. The Europeans had no clue about this “undiscovered” land. Tupaia joined Cook and guided him from one archipelago to another, without help from compass, chart, clock, or sextant. And he always knew which direction Tahiti was from their location. Their meeting was, in effect, the final joining of the separate human migrations started by early man, one going east and one west around the globe. Just don’t end up like Capt. Cook.

  2. JHam-did you clear the cache and history on your browser! If you don’t do that, your browser very sneakily looks at the page address and says: ah, we’ve seen that one before and serves up the old one instead of downloading the new one that has pictures..
