Yup, being out “here” where there are very few services of any kind brings a whole new meaning to “do it yourself”.
By following this blog, you already know of the recent head (i.e. marine toilet) rebuild and the ongoing engine repair (of which the parts while not here yet are due this afternoon), but crisis of crises, what the heck do you do when the iPod breaks. Source of entertainment and soothing music by which to cocktail by. Our major source of multi media. My first instinct was to throw the thing away. It was the physical center wheel that stopped clicking. Not a software lockup, but a broken control. Damn. My next instinct. Dr Google! Yup, found out how to open the back, disconnect the tiny wires holding the hard drive on, take off the itty bitty screws holding the inner cover and…slip a piece of a credit card behind the center wheel. Put it all back together, say a little prayer and voila, it works! Entertainment are still us!
OK, just got a call. The parts have arrived. I’m heading ashore to pick them up, then time for the rebuild. Cross fingers everyone.

I don’t know how you do it – that would be one (or five hundred) too many DIY projects for me. Sometimes it is just nice to give something to someone else and say – can you fix this for me? Guess that’s why you’re cruising and I’m still working. Hmmmm. I’m making Ikea furniture for Molly’s room in MIchigan. Fun times!
All finger are crossed. Good luck with the re-build.
